McKayla Rose Maroney is a retired American musician and artistic gymnast. She was on the American woman's team in gymnastics called the Fierce Five. In the Summer Olympics in 2012 she won gold in team competition and a silver medal in vaulting for an individual. Early life. McKayla Rose Maroney is the daughter of Erin Maroney and Mike Maroney. (died 2019.) McKayla's Irish Catholic background is her ancestral lineage. McKayla has two sisters, Tarynn and Kav, and attended home school in order to be a top-level gymnast.
