Mitchell's 15-year-old friend Angela died in a fatal accident in a car. Mitchell was devastated and composed the track Angel for Angela on her debut album. Her publication Chicken Soup of the Preteen Soul along with The 7th Heaven episode, Nothing Endures But Change also mentions the incident.
